Little Aarav is just 4 years old, an age when children run in parks and play with toys. Instead, Aarav is confined to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) bed at AIIMS, connected to a ventilator and cardiac monitors, struggling for every single breath.
He was diagnosed with a severe Congenital Heart Defect (Transposition of the Great Arteries & Ventricular Septal Defect) which has led to acute pulmonary hypertension. Without an urgent Arterial Switch Open-Heart Surgery and 18 days of post-operative intensive life support, doctors have warned that his organs will suffer irreversible failure.
Aarav's father, Ramesh Kumar, is a daily-wage laborer earning barely ₹9,000 a month to feed his family. He has already sold their small rural farmland and borrowed from everyone he knows to cover the initial diagnostic tests and emergency stabilization bills of ₹1.5 Lakh. But the remaining hospital bill and specialized pediatric surgery total an insurmountable ₹20,00,000 (Twenty Lakhs Rupees).
"Every time my son opens his eyes through the oxygen mask, he asks me when we are going home. I have no answer for him, only tears. I cannot bear to lose my child just because I do not have enough money," cries Ramesh with folded hands.
Umeed Foundation has taken up Aarav's case under our Mission Jeevan Daan initiative. Every rupee donated will be transferred directly to AIIMS for Aarav's treatment and hospital bills. All contributions are 100% tax-exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
Please open your hearts. Your kindness of ₹500, ₹1,000, or whatever you can spare can gift this little boy a whole lifetime of laughter and hope.
